Hello and welcome to my blog.
My name is Andrew Dare I’m a UK based Technologist with a real interest in how technology is changing and shaping the world. Given that my first IT job involved paper tape and punched cards (I’ve provided a link for the young folks 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card ) you can see the world of technology has changed significantly since I began my career.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the challenges facing different industry sectors have started to become closer, such as the need to become more customer-centric or to develop an omnichannel strategy. This type of – I suppose you could call it ‘convergent evolution’– lets me look at the differences and similarities between sectors, issues and solutions, and use that insight to help customers achieve their objectives.
I willingly take on new technical challenge. its an opportunity to learn! That, coupled with the technical knowledge gained over the years about architectures and designs, portfolio and systems management, application development, enterprise architecture, data modelling, infrastructure optimization and solutions design (phew!) stand me in good stead. Plus, I’m lucky in that the teams I work with are just as enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
The purpose of this blog it really twofold firstly to allow me to organize my thoughts and sometimes vent; secondly, to stimulate discussion. I appreciate people taking the time to comment on my blogs I would be even happier if those comments lead to a wider discussion. I don’t expect everyone to agree with my all the time (I may even be wrong sometimes) so all comments gratefully received.
One final point; the views expressed here are my own and m aynot represent the views of my employer.
